Graduated approach to SEN
Children identified as having additional needs initially have their needs met through high quality teaching which targets the area of weakness. If progress continues to be below what would be expected, additional interventions will be put in place to support the child. These are carefully monitored. If it is felt that a child needs a further level of support, then advice is sought from professionals in a range of specialist areas. Where, despite all the input from school and other professionals, a child has not made expected progress, the decision to request an Education, Health and Care assessment will be made. Parents and child are involved throughout the SEND journey, with regular meetings to discuss progress and the next steps.
