Governors Autumn Term Letter

Dear Parents, Carers and friends of our school,

Well, here we are at the end of the first term already. The first term in school is all about new beginnings and here at Ladywood we have had a few new beginnings this term!

We have three new teachers, Miss Wilding in Nursery, Mrs Laverack in Year 3 and Mr Bowering in Year 5. We welcome them and hope they will enjoy being part of our school.

It is good to be able to tell you that we have a new governor as well. Unfortunately, Angie Pressland, the PCSO, had to leave and we have been without a Community Governor for a few months. However, one of our parents, Shannon Marshall, volunteered to come onto the Governing Body and it is great to be able to welcome her onto the team.

The governors continue to meet each month to monitor the progress of the school and to offer our support. One of the important issues for us at the moment is the development of the caretaker’s  bungalow into a Library and resource centre. We are hoping to be able to raise the required funds so that it can go ahead as soon as possible. At the moment it has been made secure by the addition of the shutters, but we don’t really want it to stand empty for too long and fall into disrepair.

I have been in school most Thursday mornings and have enjoyed working in Year 4 and Year 6. The children are so enthusiastic and seem to enjoy their learning. I am certainly being challenged by the maths in Year 6!! I learn something new each week!

On behalf of all the governors, I would like to wish you a very happy, peaceful and fun-filled Christmas and a great 2017.

Let’s hope it is as good as last year for our children.

Best wishes

Pam Randall

Chair of Governors
