In the nursery the children are assessed to establish the starting point for their learning. The results of this baseline assessment inform the teachers’ planning and are shared with parents.
Teachers and teaching assistants continue to assess children through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) by observation and the EYFS profile is completed and reported to parents at the end of the Reception year.
In Key Stage 1 and 2 children are assessed termly in reading, writing, maths and science. The children’s progress is tracked to ensure that all children achieve their potential.
At the end of each Key Stage (Y2 and Y6) children complete SATs (standard assessment tasks and tests) in maths and literacy. The results are used alongside teacher’s assessments to judge the stage at which children are working. These results are also reported to parents at the end of the school year with their annual school report.
