Attendance/Absence from School

Regular attendance is important to your child's success, children are expected to come to school every day.

Attendance and achievement are closely linked and good habits, developed early in life do have an impact on levels of achievement.

If pupils are ill, parents/carers are expected to telephone the school before 10am on the first day of absence. If this does not happen the school administrator will telephone home to ascertain the reason for absence. If this is unsuccessful, a letter will be sent home to request this information. If a reason is not supplied following this letter the absence will be recorded as unauthorised.

The Health Protection Agency issue guidance to schools and other childcare settings recommending the actions to be taken to prevent the spread of infection e.g. recommended periods to be kept away from school. Click here to view a copy of this guidance.
